Filled with symbolism, this metaphorical drama by Colombian director Carlos Mayolo is centered on an old mansion, isolated and ambiguous in its actual location. Revolving around the mansion is a static society made up of a pilot, landowner, priest, soldier, and other people representative of professions or occupations. This group is sustained by a kind of "earth mother" named Machiche (Vicky Hernandez) and has retained its status quo for a long time. A young girl (Adriana Herran) appears on the scene and starts to affect the group's long-held equilibrium until cracks, and dissensions begin to crumble the entire social structure.

After breaking off her engagement on her wedding day and going directly to a prostitution house, a young model becomes the city's most famous harlot, known as "Hilda Hurricane", in the 50's Brazil. She could do fine if it wasn't for Malthus, a young novice said to be a saint, for whom she falls in love. However, the boy is kept under the strict, severe doctrine of Father Nelson, a conservative priest intolerant even to every minor sin. Things start getting harder when Roberto, Malthus' old friend and a communist reporter (the actual author of the story), tries to interview Hilda and disclosure the real reasons behind her radical change of mind. In the meantime, the middle-classes are terrified by the "leftist threat" in Brazilian politics.

Rio de Janeiro. Nonô (Reginaldo Faria), um excedente no vestibular de medicina, e Toledo (Walter Forster), um homem de meia idade que tem uma boa situação financeira, são bons amigos. Eles dedicam boa parte do tempo para seduzir mulheres. Tudo corre perfeitamente entre eles, mas um dia Nonô vê Toledo com uma jovem que poderia ser filha dele e não se conforma, principalmente quando fica apaixonado por ela, sem ter idéia de como ela está ligada ao seu companheiro de farras.
