The Chinese are knocking at the door to the western world for the first time. A unique story about globalization and culture collision unfolds. Despite the serious topic, the story is told in a humorous and slightly surrealistic tone. The Chinese entrepreneur Mr. Luo has come to the Swedish city Kalmar with a multi billion investment and grandiose plans. He promises a bright future for the people in this small town by the Baltic Sea and is received as a saviour. But conflicts soon start to occur, misunderstandings and culture clashes seem comical and absurd. Mr. Luo soon finds himself in a darkening tunnel. The dream is falling apart before our main character's eyes, and slowly turns into a nightmare reality.

Highlights the rebellious young generation of artists in China fighting for political emancipation, artistic freedom and creating a cultural golden age during the 1980s - a significant decade of transformational change. Interweaving six main characters' memories with the director's personal narration, the film embarks on an emotional journey and tells a story of being passionate and idealistic before dreams are dashed to pieces.
