Had an excellent moth trap at Bath City Farm yesterday. I'll post photos of the moths tomorrow, but first here's some of the non-moths we caught. Most excitingly, a Bombardier Beetle, the first time I've ever seen one! This uncommon beetle famously ejects a noxious spray around 100 degrees C as a defensive mechanism. Also found Acorn Weevil, Birch Shieldbug & Red-legged Shieldbug

Der Dornige Wimperbock (Pogonocherus hispidus) ist gerade einmal 4 mm groß, besitzt aber beeindruckende Fühler. Es gibt ähnliche Arten, die sich u. a. an der Schildchen-Farbe (hier rein schwarz), den Flügelhinterenden unterscheiden. Er ist schwer zu entdecken, da er sich wie viele Käferarten bei Gefahr tot stellt und eher wie eine vertrocknete Knospe aussieht.
