Blue Velvet (1986), now 40 years old, is underrated as a Halloween movie. Your opinion likely differs, but I'm merely introducing the fact that I recently traveled to Wilmington, NC where the filming occurred and got shots of some of the buildings used in filming.
🏨 The key building is the one used for the Deep River Apartments. This building is creepy in the movie and the architecture helps, especially at night where it was generally filmed. It's where Isabella Rossolini's apartment is and where we learn about her "unusual" relationship with Dennis Hopper. Honestly, it put me off gas masks during sex.
⌛ Trees have grown up around it since 1985, obscuring some of the architecture. And I don't remember this fountain the last time I was here. Detracts from the creepiness.
But here is a wide view and a detail shot of the opening on the side. This feature could have been used to better effect.
