Sethi's book is a beautiful meditation on her travels to Sweden, where she assisted in the tracking of various species of birds. While I'm not much of a nature-book reader, nor do I particularly know anything about birds, I really enjoyed Mountainfit. Sethi's openhearted enthusiasm for what she learns and encounters is contagious, and the way she writes is closer to poetry than journalism.

Sethi wrote a guest post for my site about the Swedish coffee break called fika, and also gave a recipe for a cinnamon roll-esque recipe, kanelbullar. Check it out here.
Rated Warren the 13th and The All-Seeing Eye 8/10
This is a really good middle grade book that both myself AND my 9-yr-old son enjoyed a lot. (And the e-ARC I had didn't even have the finished illustrations yet.)

(Fuller review forthcoming) Though I think I'm slightly aged out in terms of life-stages covered in this book, I still loved the silliness and puns. And of course I fully support drinking while cooking. It's the best, as long as you don't injure yourself.

Really good issue. I also enjoyed the entries about teaching flash fiction writing.

Rated Never Whistle at Night: An Indigenous Dark Fiction Anthology 8/10

Like a lot of short story collections, there were some I liked better than others, but this was still a solid read. Some of the authors, I'd read and enjoyed before, and many here were new to me. I checked out from the library an audiobook by David Heska Wanbli Weiden right after I finished his short story. The editors didn't subtitle this "Dark Fiction" for nothing — many of the tales are grim, and there are a wide variety of horror subgenres represented here. Some are just dark tales. Worth a read.
