EuroTripping – Colmar, France
On our last full day staying outside Basel in late June, we decided to drive north to visit the Alsatian town of Colmar.
When I planned our whole trip, I had slotted an excursion to Zurich into the itinerary but as the weather was still overly hot and we had already seen the gridlock on the roads getting from our side of Basel eastwards (or anywhere in Switzerland for that matter), we thought an easy drive up to visit a French village with picturesque canals and colorful half-timbered buildings might be a nicer way to beat the heat.
It was a sizzler, I won’t lie, but the old town had shade to offer and feasts for the eyes. It’s definitely a town worth a wander. Here are some images, mostly shot around Colmar’s old town, with a surprise at the end.
