"But these findings and others giving worrying signals about the long-term impact of even 'mild' #COVID19 cases got little attention when they were released—kind of the way one might pay less attention to a broken window after realizing that arsonists have doused the house with gasoline and begun lighting matches. And the arsonists are indeed at work." Just posted today but written over a week ago, and it's gotten even worse since then. https://48hills.org/2025/05/notes-from-the-road-to-health-hell/

Major funding cuts to the vaccine pipeline announced in the US, but important advances for mucosal Covid vaccines globally:
- 10th mucosal vax reaches phase 2 (in Canada)
- Another human challenge trial as prep for mucosal trials started in Singapore
- Trial results, including one for intranasal vax in kids in China
And lots more in my latest next generation Covid vaccine update now online @PLOS

Kennedy’s vaccine committee voted to change the children’s recommended vaccine schedule today—
voting 8-3 to no longer recommend children under four years old get the MMRV (measles, mumps, rubella, varicella) vaccine (😳)
The committee will vote tomorrow on its hepatitis B vaccine recommendation changes. It will also recommend who should be eligible for the latest #COVID vaccine.

A research group looked at results for over 97,000,000 people, and found
COVID-19 was associated with a 49% increased risk of new-onset autoimmune-related diseases
and flat out:
SARS-CoV-2 infection increases the risk of autoimmune diseases, particularly those affecting vascular and connective tissue. Risk is amplified by severe infection and attenuated by vaccination
and it's hard to imagine a stronger proof - most countries don't have 97 million people in them!

I often post updates about #COVID19 in wastewater, the best way to monitor the levels of COVID and other viruses. Alas, we may lose this soon. Funding for the Wastewater Surveillance System (NWSS) is set for deep cuts in October 2026. Trump's budget seeks to permanently slash the program's annual budget from $125M to $25M, an 80% reduction. I suspect this will affect WastewaterSCAN data as well. We could soon be flying completely blind, thanks to everyone who voted for Trump. 1/3

Pretty good basic info, but sadly ME/CFS is not mentioned even though COVID infections can trigger ME/CFS. The number of ME/CFS cases have increased since the pandemic.
