Concerning #FediHood, I made the choice that web pages such as profiles, messages and threads are not available on the web without authentication. That keeps out all scrapers and crawlers.
Of course, this does not break the federation.

The top two countries in #FediHood are the US and Germany.
219 people in the US and 206 in Germany, this is amazing adoption from German people.
Now you can add events to your calendar in #FediHood. The map has also been redesigned to display them all, and end dates have been added.
You can also subscribe to #Lemmy communities. You will get their posts in a dedicated timeline, with the ability to reply, vote and create threads.
You can already submit communities that target an area, they will be available to people near them.

A few days ago I asked if you would use an anonymous way to talk with people near you, built on the #Fediverse and #OSM (#OpenStreetMap). The poll is still open, but I already started, because I truly believe in this need. It is called #FediHood. Your account is anonymous, private messages are end to end encrypted, and it reuses the tools I already run in #PawFed and #HolosSocial.

#FediHood and #HolosSocial, two separate #Fediverse projects (that I maintain), can now send each other #E2EE DMs, fully over #ActivityPub.
More about how moderation will work on #FediHood.
FediHood is a way to talk with people near you without telling anyone who you are or where exactly you live. It uses the #Fediverse with the #Mastodon API for common endpoints, so it already works with most apps such as #Fedilab. Moderation is at the heart of this new app on the Fedi. The success of the project depends on it.

#FediHood now lets you sign up and log in with your #Mastodon account. It only uses the minimal API scope "read:accounts", and the token is immediately revoked. Your Mastodon identity is never shown nor federated.
Without an account, the app suggests a handle and you pick a city, no email and no password to manage. With an existing account, you can link your Mastodon account to it, and each Mastodon account can only be linked once.
#FediHood should be easy to use, with a very simple interface. It fully uses #ActivityPub and is compatible with the #Mastodon API (tested with #Fedilab). It will of course bring extra endpoints related to how it works. The project reuses the combined work from #HolosSocial and #PawFed.
Here are some screenshots of the Web UI.

If you want to know more about #FediHood, check my recent detailed posts :)
In short, it is #Fediverse software that gives you a local timeline based on your city, and you can set the radius around it. The instance does not even know your exact position. It supports everything the fediverse allows and offers a Mastodon-like API.
Each post has a topic that you can mute. Moderators are promoted naturally in their area through good actions.

I built #FediHood on the #Mastodon API, so you can connect your account with any Mastodon-compatible app, such as #Fedilab.
Fedilab will soon support the extra features at the heart of the project: finding people nearby by city via #OSM, and using #E2EE DMs.
#FediHood is now available!
Talk with people near you. A local chat on the #Fediverse where you share only your city, never your exact location. You adjust your timeline with distance and topic filters.
It's in early beta and web only for now. It connects to the whole Fediverse, and you can send #E2EE DMs between FediHood and Holos users. The source code will be published soon. Don't hesitate to share!

#FediHood warns you if you pick a small town and suggests the nearest larger one. It is a privacy measure, since few people share a small place, but you can ignore the suggestion and keep your choice.
You can now subscribe to push notifications on #FediHood. You can also choose which ones you receive.
#FediHood is in beta and the core is there, with more of you joining to talk with people near you, fully over #ActivityPub.
Pick your location and the app notices when a town is too small and suggests a larger one nearby, so you stay at city level, never exact coordinates. DMs are end-to-end encrypted and push notifications work.
A project like this only grows if the people using it carry it, so share it if you want it to exist.
Thank you for your support
