The branches of a pine tree frame the top of the pic. A brilliant sun is shining through them to our right. A beautiful forest of stately pines encircles the lake. Sun, sky and pines are mirrored on the almost completely still surface of the pond.

I painted this watercolor painting some years ago on location in Bavaria, Germany. When I go on my wanders I come across beauty, everywhere, of all kinds. There are specific places in the forests near our home where there are perfect moss gardens. I return to them often. Detailed photo of a small dense surface area of forest floor covered in different patches of moss, lichen, and likely liverworts. Mixed in the moss are small rounded leaves that look almost like succulents, a plant called stonecrop. The mix of these mosses, lichens and plants is varying shades of mostly dark green. There's also a variety of textures. Some of the moss looks like fluffy carpet, others more branch-like. An overall image of rich dense verdant life.
