I walk by this one fence all the time, and no matter the weather, the yellow-green lichen just pierces my eyes. I’ve never seen such day-glow fluorescence on a natural object before. A photo doesn’t quite capture the intensity of it, but here’s one (with no color adjustments).

Normally dull lichens brought to vibrant colourful life using UV light at dusk. Jagged rocks on the Solway shore look splashed with fiery oranges yellows and reds, with cooler spots of greens and blues..

I don't like to take photos of lichens when they are dry or in full sunlight. But in drizzling rain and light fog, as of today, they show their most beautiful colors:

It was the first time I found the Brown Beret Lichen (Baeomyces rufus) on a rock instead of on soil or gravel.
And when I took a closer look at the photo, I noticed some “hairs” all around this lichen, especially to the left of it. It turned out that these “hairs” are also a type of lichen, but so far I’m still very unsure to identify this hairy lichen.
