I think I'm going to be too busy over the next couple of days to post anything much here, so I'll sign off with the photo I've used for this year's Christmas card.

Forget Me Not

This little forget me not seemed so delicate while I was shooting it I was afraid that the bloom would get knocked off of the stem. I didn't want an ordinary flower shot with a full bloom dead center in the middle of the frame.
I worked my camera around the flower and shot from many different angles. This angle here is what I liked best.

Coyote Thistle for #ThistleThursday due to the common name... but this plant is actually in the Apiaceae family, while thistles belong to the Asteraceae 🤪

The scientific name is Eryngium aristulatum var. parishii and another common name is San Diego Button Celery.

This is a rare/endangered native plant, due to limited distribution and habitat loss. It grows in vernal pools, of which >90% in San Diego have been lost due to development.

Spurges are generally pretty weird in my opinion, and the aptly-named Beetle Spurge (Euphorbia eriantha) justly earns a spot in the top part of the list.

Maybe it's alien and should be called UFOrbia? 😅

It was the first time I found the Brown Beret Lichen (Baeomyces rufus) on a rock instead of on soil or gravel.
And when I took a closer look at the photo, I noticed some “hairs” all around this lichen, especially to the left of it. It turned out that these “hairs” are also a type of lichen, but so far I’m still very unsure to identify this hairy lichen.
