The Data Show
Data became suspicious when the turbo encabulator malfunctioned. The failure of such a key component would collapse the warp core containment field. The resulting reaction would destroy the ship.
If the turbo encabulator was so important why hadn't Data ever heard of it before now?

Coming tomorrow, #FracturedTreks present the epic finale and startling epilogue of "The Night Alexander met Miguelito."
PART 7 - Transfer or Die!
Lovelace directed Alexander to a medium-sized room filled with antique laboratory equipment. Along one wall was the alien mechanism. Elaborately carved designs covered a floor-to-ceiling enclosure with a pair of smooth panels side-by-side at the bottom. A surprisingly simple control panel was on one side.
PART 8 - Epilogue
A transporter whine interrupted their reverie. Captain Kirk, Doctor McCoy, and two security guards materialized near the doorway.
McCoy went to examine Lovelace as Kirk approached Alexander. “Alexander, are you all right?”
“I am now, Captain. Thank you for coming. I didn't think you got my message.”
“It was garbled but Spock and Uhura were able to trace it here. What is going on?” Kirk said.
