Not a tumbleweed, but as I moved fallen branches out of the road (big wind), this dried hydrangea head rolled past.

I really like how the snow dusts the skeletal trees, and how the slate-grey of the sky and slightly blurred edges of the picture make everything look almost dream-like.

On Exoplanet 09774 these seeds have gained the name of Walking Apples. Plants don’t walk, (well, except for Triffids) but these ones do, sort of. Once dropped from the branch, the ‘legs’ move the seed along the soil upwards of 10 meters. There are no birds to spread the seed on this planet, which is probably why they walk. The seeds mostly trundle along at night, although we don’t know why at night, or how they know it’s night, although the nights do normally last 37 earth hours.

Close-up photography with manual focus allows for artistic use of de-focusing, and a combination of telephoto and wide aperture can lead to some cool bokeh effects. With golden hour light coming though pine needles, that resulted in some interesting textures and compositions emerging.
2025/09/06, with XF80mmF2.8 lens.
The brick building across the street from the venue where my open mic is held, for coming up on three years has never ceased to provide ample fascinating opportunities for visual studies. I'm undecided which of these I'm more partial to (or maybe I could just keep both)
