I haven’t been doing this most weeks, but I wanted to celebrate that I’ve been watching movies for Modular Film Festival.
The Diamond Arm - the Mosfilm YouTube channel calls this a detective comedy, but there’s not a detective and nobody detects anything. Crime comedy would probably be a better category.
West Side Story - beautiful to look at, but I have strong opinions on how to adapt Romeo and Juliet which this doesn’t meet on a story level.
Permanent Vacation - Jarmusch gets better than this later. Feels like a glorified student film, because it kind of is.
AL’S BRAIN: A 3-D Journey through the Human Brain with ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic - Weird Al put this on his YouTube channel and so I watched it. Good fun.
