FILMS
I will use this thread to keep track of the movies I see that are good. If it's on this list, it's nice and I recommend watching it. Please note: I generally do not watch violent films. Just a trailer, no explanation. If it's on here, it's good.

Hello World!
I just spoke with a #US #Senator office about the #fediverse . They're asking for more information to help spread around #Capital #Hill in small bite sized easy to understand pieces. I'm obviously going to give them @elena beautiful #movie on the #fedi (with some light editing which she's agreed to).
I'll of course show them https://fediverse.info/ and https://fedi.tips/ which are great websites. I figured I'd give them examples of amazing #AP projects such as #mastodon , #pixelfed , #peertube , #bandwagon , and #bonfire ; even things like @admin .
I'd love to know from folks any EASY to understand projects that best encompass the Fediverse and explanations of it.
What are some projects you'd hand to your friends and family that would explain and display to them what we are?
I'll say this isn't going to happen over night. There's lot of questions around regulations, trust & safety, etc. But I feel it's pertinent to at least get the conversation going, especially considering the current state of disdain for big social media and the impending legislation around these things.
I'll finally state if there's anyone in this list that does NOT want to be involved with this, that's totally fine and I understand and I can exclude you from the materials I give to them.

Rated Oasis: Don't Look Back in Anger 10/10
I enjoy Oasis a bit, sure. But I'm not a superfan. So that's where I'm coming from when I say - THIS IS A GREAT FILM.
Yes it's a little about those surly boys from Manchester and their guitar-drenched rock. But really it's about the power of music and love to change lives. If you want to remember how anything that separates us is bullshit, or be inspired to connect, or to be creative, this is the movie for you.
Rated Soleil O 2/10
My initial thought was that I should have watched this before West Indies: Fugitive Slaves of Liberty, being an earlier film by the same filmmaker that was next on my watchlist. Coming away from it I'm not sure if that would have made me less inclined to start West Indies—which I loved—or like it even more on account of it being so, so much better than this.Where that was essentially a filmed theatre play, and brimmed with lots of presentational ideas, Soleil Ô borders on the documentary. There are some nice touches, like the chatter of passers by being dubbed over by cacophonous animal noises, but for the most part it really is just a guy wandering Paris unable to find a job on account of his race.
Rated Teen Guerrillas 1/10
Koreans playing Americans took some getting used to; I wasn't even sure who they were supposed to be initially.I watched this on YouTube via a transfer so bad it was mostly impossible to tell who was whom and what was going on, which probably didn't help with my enjoyment of the film.
Rated Sambizanga 1/10
I think my biggest issue with Sambizanga is its opening wall of text setting up internal conflicts, revolution, and any number of other things that just...aren't actually relevant to the plot. A man is abducted and tortured, while his wife tries to track him down. That could have worked were it not for the setup leaving me with very different expectations for the tone and events of the film, but even so it spends too much time cutting away to this other subplot about some locals who see the abductors bring their victim in.
