I'm reading Parable of the Talents by Octavia E Butler. As an American, this part sings loudly to me right now. I carry so much angst about our situation, doubled by the obliviousness of my neighbors who ignore or celebrate our fate. Why are we so blind? Our democracy has a shorter life expectancy than Mitch McConnell.
