La imagen es una fotografía en blanco y negro tomada desde lo alto de las murallas del casco antiguo del Peñón de Peñíscola, con vistas hacia el puerto y la bahía.

En el lado izquierdo domina la composición una garita de vigilancia (guardilla) de piedra, con su característica forma cilíndrica rematada por una cúpula semiesférica y un pináculo en la punta. Se aprecian pequeñas troneras o aberturas rectangulares en su cuerpo, típicas de estas construcciones defensivas costeras. Bajo ella se extienden los muros y baluartes de la fortificación, con sillares de piedra bien visibles gracias al contraste que aporta el blanco y negro, además de una escalinata y una zona con barandillas metálicas que desciende hacia el paseo de la muralla.

Más abajo, ocupando la franja central de la imagen, se extiende la lámina de agua tranquila del puerto pesquero y deportivo de Peñíscola. Se distinguen varias embarcaciones amarradas, entre ellas una de mayor tamaño en primer término sobre el agua, así como una grúa portuaria y otras estructuras propias de la actividad marinera. La suavidad del agua, casi sin oleaje, sugiere condiciones de calma matutina, coherente con la luz suave y difusa que baña toda la escena.

Al fondo se aprecia la línea de costa que se curva hacia la derecha, con una zona de playa y, más allá, un promontorio o colina con vegetación que se adentra en el mar, correspondiente a la costa hacia el norte del municipio. El cielo aparece casi despejado, con algunas nubes ligeras concentradas en la parte derecha del encuadre, y una tonalidad uniforme propia de una mañana clara sin fuertes contrastes lumínicos, lo que refuerza la atmósfera serena y atemporal que transmite el revelado en blanco y negro.

An autumn landscape at sunset. Bare trees dominate the upper frame, their branches reaching across a golden sky. Below, vibrant green grass covers the ground, and a small stream winds through the scene, reflecting the warm light. A large tree trunk stands on the right, scarred where a branch was cut, but still alive with orange leaves clinging to its younger branches.
This is how I see the world. The bare trees, what we notice most, seem dead, like today's civilization: governed by hatred, coldness, selfishness, rampant individualism. But at the base, the grass is green. Because at the base, there are wonderful people who often go unnoticed, yet they are the most important part of everything. The stream connects it all, starting from that living green, reflecting the golden light, flowing toward the horizon beneath the bare branches. Perhaps relationships, perhaps time, perhaps simply the reminder that everything flows and transforms. And beyond: light and color, because life can give us far more than these bare "trees" show right now. And the trees themselves, if not rotten inside, will bloom again.
I intentionally increased the saturation to create this contrast: to flood the scene with light.

Here's a #photo I took last night as I was walking near Trafalgar Sq, #London. I'd walked past that same spot before and had already noticed the captivating yellow neon, but last night I noticed someone hunched over a laptop out of the corner of my eye. I couldn't help stopping to take a photo - it looked a bit like a cyberpunk scify film. I hope the photo does it justice!

The three volcanoes that rumble in the heart of New Zealand's North Island, seen from the Craters of the Moon thermal walkway at Wairakei (~38°38'36.6"S 176°04'05.9"E).

L-R: Ruapehu ("noisy pit", 2797m), Ngauruhoe (2291m), and Tongariro (1968m). The Tongariro Crossing runs between the latter pair. Ngauruhoe is technically a vent of, and the tallest point, of Tongariro. All three are active.
