Good to see activity underway on the site earmarked for the Crown Works Studios alongside the Northern Spire.
Pile drivers and other plant are already on the riverside site following earlier pledges stating that work on the new film and high-end television production hub on the south bank of the River Wear in Sunderland would begin in the autumn.
The first phase, Studio One, is set to create three sound stages, ancillary production accommodation, backlot space and a surface car park, alongside the refurbishment of the historic WH Foster Printworks building.
Some 178,000 sq ft of TV and film production space will be created in the first phase of Crown Works.

“Old Tree and Cotswalds Woods” — Old tree in a clearing in a Cotswolds forest.
I have written about my fascination with the very old and often very large trees that we saw on our weeklong spring walk in England’s Cotswolds. Many of the large trees stand apart, often in open areas or in rows between fields and pastures. This one, however, was close to a managed forest of smaller trees, which I presume are destined to become lumber when they grow larger.
