秋の磐梯山の頂上から、東側の望むと鏡ヶ沼とよばれる沼があります。例年であれば10月上旬辺りに紅葉の見頃を迎えます。

常念乗越からは槍穂の稜線が一直線に列んでいる姿を見ることが出来ます。左の大きくくぼんでいるところが穂高付近の登山道で未踏となっている大キレットです。右にはわかりやすく槍ヶ岳が天を突き刺しています。手前の赤い宿は常念小屋です。夏はお医者さんが常駐してくれます。
