Stenen sculptuur, in Mexico, Ed van der Elsken, 1960

#Mexico #EdvanderElsken #Mayan #fotografie #photography #EdVanDerElsken #EdvanderElsken

http://www.rijksmuseum.nl/en/collection/RP-F-2019-298-4-28

This image displays a striking black and white photograph of an ancient stone sculpture's face. The texture is rough, with deep grooves etched into the rock that suggest age and wear from time or natural elements. Notably, there are horizontal lines running across what appears to be the top part of the headpiece, possibly indicating layers within the structure. There’s a pronounced eye visible amidst these features, showing evidence of erosion but also hinting at an attempt by artisans in creating human-like characteristics on stone. The image is stark with high contrast between light and dark areas that enhance its dramatic effect. This sculpture seems to be part of a larger monument or installation as suggested by the surrounding stones which partially frame this feature within what could potentially constitute a more extensive artwork or ceremonial piece, reminiscent of ancient Mayan sculptures found in Mexico.

Night view of a building with a tin roof at a border crossing between Turkey and Bulgaria. A glowing red digital neon sign on the wall reads, "Welcome to Love and Brotherhood to his country," with the Bulgarian translation written directly underneath it in Cyrillic script. The light from the sign reflects on the walls and the floor in front of it painting the area in a red glow.

Common darter

#InsektenSamstag #Photography

A dragonfly perched on top of a weathered, textured wooden post or plant stem. It has detailed, translucent wings with intricate venation patterns, large compound eyes with reddish tones, and a segmented, elongated body.

The top of the post is frayed and fibrous, providing a textured surface where the dragonfly rests. The background is dark, moody, and softly out of focus, which makes the subject stand out sharply.

Night view from Queen Elizabeth Park, looking over Vancouver BC Canada, 2026 01. It was one of the nights when there was a chance of aurora, so we went up to the highest point in Vancouver proper, and looked North toward the mountains.
