Craggy Face

This long, north-south oriented palagonite ridge is 764 metres / 2,507 feet above sea level. Its almost vertical cliff face reaches 671 m / 2201 ft, making it the highest in the country.

In Icelandic folklore, a giant named Jarngrímur is said to live within the mountain, guarding the country from invaders.

Lómagnúpur¹ in Skeiðarársandur outwash plain, southern region of Iceland.

At the top of the mountain is more wispy cloud, and the rounded peak continues beyond the right edge of the shot.
