It's not a true monochrome image. Its because of heavy fog, overcast lighting, and snow it appears to be one. I took the photograph few years back when I was visiting old Manali in Himachal Pradesh. It was snowing and I had the pleasure of watching nature's little miracle for hours. In the image, you see snow covered ground full of leafless trees shrouded in mist and fog. I'm guessing there are also pine or cedar trees in the picture. After living so long near the beaches, the yearning for mountains is intense.

Almost at the Autumnal Equinox and at this time of the year, the sun sets behind Sunderland's Wearmouth Bridge on the River Wear in NE England from this viewpoint (not quite there yet!).
It works best when when it is slack water at high tide and calm conditions, unfortunately neither of which came into play on this occasion.
I'll be keeping an eye on the skies these next few days to see if I get an opportunity to improve on this capture, although there's no chance this time around of sunset coinciding with a high tide!
