常念乗越からは槍穂の稜線が一直線に列んでいる姿を見ることが出来ます。左の大きくくぼんでいるところが穂高付近の登山道で未踏となっている大キレットです。右にはわかりやすく槍ヶ岳が天を突き刺しています。手前の赤い宿は常念小屋です。夏はお医者さんが常駐してくれます。
