I actually don't remember the last time I took a posed photo but while getting my #Honda serviced I asked this young receptionist if I could take her photo and she obliged.

A gray and white, delicately shaded gull feather rests on fine grainy sand. The feather is slightly tattered. You can see the shadow of its rachis on one side of the vane. The after feathers are white and somewhat tangled. The upward curving calamus casts a shadow on the sand. The sand grains themselves have many colors: tan, black, white, pink, translucent, all combined to a tan sand color. Slight dips in the sand have a quiet shadow play.

almost forgot to post the photos I took on the half frame with the Aerocolor (aerial surveillance film)
just submitted this one for the monthly challenge in a group i'm in, "green"

i'll post some more later

vertical photo taken with a half frame film camera. closeup of some lacy plant things in the park which i can't tell if they're supposed to be like that or if insects ate them, to make very lacy cups coming out of some low plants with dark green leaves. the photo has a shallow depth of field and the rest of the park is blurred and dreamy

Are You a Threat

This blue jay (Cyanocitta cristata) was the first bird to show up at my feeders after I filled them one morning. You can see how warily it was checking out both me and Charlie, making sure we weren’t a threat. Blue jays aren’t grazers — they grab what they want and fly off to a safer spot. And this one had a very specific goal in mind: it wanted a peanut.

If you're enchanted by images of blue jays and other captivating corvids, dive into my photo gallery for a visual treat! Take a peek:

https://swede1952-photographs.pixels.com

#photo #photography #photographer #photographylovers #wildlife #nature #bird #birds #birding #birdwatching #birdphotography #corvids #bluejay

"A blue jay stands perched on the edge of a weathered wooden bird feeder, its body angled slightly forward as if weighing the air for danger. The wood beneath its feet is rough and sun‑bleached, with a single metal screw glinting faintly near the bird’s toes. The jay’s feathers are a brilliant mosaic of blues — deep cobalt on the wings and tail, lighter sky‑blue on the crest and back — all trimmed with crisp black and white markings that look almost painted on.

Its head is turned to the side, one dark eye wide and alert, scanning the world beyond the frame. The black line that sweeps across its face gives it a look of sharp intelligence, as though it’s calculating every rustle and shadow. The background behind it is softly blurred, a wash of greens and browns that makes the bird stand out like a bright spark in a quiet morning.

The jay’s posture is tense but controlled — wings tucked, tail steady, claws gripping the wood just enough to be ready to spring away. It’s a moment of poised caution, the kind of stillness birds hold when they’re deciding whether the world is safe enough to take the next step." - Microsoft Copilot
