Cēsis Castle, previousle called Wenden Castle, was the political seat and military headquarters of the leaders of Livonian Order - a crusader state that was the largest and most influential entity within the Livonian Confederation.
The Confederation comprised modern Latvia and Estonia, existed in the 15th-16th centuries, and fell to the Russian invasion under the tsar Ivan IV the Terrible in 1558-1561. Poland and Sweden then intervened, defeated Russia after a long war, and divided Livonian lands between themselves.

I went out to capture the sunset, but I didn't expect to also capture the full moon (again) in the same walk 40 minutes later!

Do you know the big cat rule of three yawns? If you're watching a big cat lying around, and you're wondering when they will get up and become active- watch for the third yawn. It's just a rule of thumb, but more often than not it plays out.
