Following from yesterday's snap, I'll have a week of further pix from a couple of days in Great Malvern in August. The Malvern Hills go straight up from the edge of the town. Here's a view from near the highest point. It should be greener!

The pier yesterday morning

A dark blue-to-black sky begins to fade into brighter blue, then orange and red toward the horizon on the right of the photo, while the left is still faded almost completely black. Stretching across the photo from the right, more or less in the center of the frame, is a dark pier with a tree and one or two neon lights. Along the pier, stretching to the left and out into the dark lake, are about a dozen lights on black sticks of light poles, shining blobs that illuminate themselves but cannot challenge even this dimly brightening sky. Their reflections stretch downward like jittering lines from an impressionist's brush in oils.
