F1.4 at 85mm means dreamy background blur and low-light magic. This lens delivers both.

One from the archives. Snowdrops growing in the front yard in the spring of 2014. Taken with my Nikon D3300, which has a resolution of 24.2 megapixels. The #iPhone 18 Pro Max, which I have recently upgraded to, but have not yet received (thank you, chip shortage), has three 48-megapixel rear cameras.
Mind boggling. But the iPhone doesn't have all of those groovy Nikon lenses.

Wood Cauliflower Fungus (Sparassis crispa).
I took this photograph in my garden 4 years ago. It was growing at the base of a mature Scots Pine, which has since died and come down. Although the tree stump is still there, the Wood Cauliflower has not reappeared. Like many tree fungi, Wood Cauliflower is parasitic and eventually kills its host.
The plus side is that Wood Cauliflower is edible when cooked. Smells cheesy, tastes nutty!😋

Had to take a days holiday because numbers, took a scenic ride, starting with a pretty steep climb, then a several mile long coast past woods and hills, and finally a stop at a river where I saw some spider webs on a bridge (no spiders) before coming home via a well maintained cycle path. Just a really nice time. Also got some other stuff sorted but like, definitely going to take that route again, the long mostly gentle hill descent zoomy was like flying :)
