For #MeerMittwoch this week, the evening view to the sea from Plymouth just over six years ago this week during a relaxation of the COVID restrictions that allowed us to get away for a week's break along the coast.

A very tranquil scene, feeling silent with an overall cool temperature all around but our face is being warmed from the weak sun across the sea falling towards the horizon. We're standing on a hill on a meandering coastline, with the steep, grassy slope falling away near our feet and down towards a promenade that follows the contours of the land and the shore a few dozen metres lower down. A small bay is formed near where we are as the land to the right curves around then doubles back on itself, all the time with a hilly landscape running behind it. With the sunlight in our eyes we only get impressions of buildings and walls dotted on the land but there's a domed structure near the hill's apex on the right. The sea is an elephant's hide, darker on the left but brightening to the right under some of the reflected sunlight on its textured surface. The horizon is a little hazy where the only-just blue sky fades into the palest of orange-whites. A few large, low islands sit far off towards the centre of the view, each a slightly lighter silhouette on the sea's surface than the one in front.
