I just published a custom comment system that I built for my blog! And I wrote a blog post to go alongside it. Check it out, and leave a comment!

Here's to a new era [of my blog] :)
Oh I'm loving this old school Yahoo directory vibe. Thanks @adam
Also did AI just ruin the term vibe? I can't vibe anymore, can I. A sad, vibeless day.
Tiny Awards are back this year to celebrate "the best of the small, poetic, creative, handmade web".

#introduction après quelque temps sur mastodon :
- intéressé (assez pour y passer trop de temps) par les outils informatiques du monde #libre en commençant par #linux (#MXlinux user here) mais aussi #android et #foss
- réfléchit aux outils libres... qui libèrent ! notamment autour de la #décentralisation et du #smallweb #smolweb
- kiffe la musique du #Mali
- de manière très originale aime la #nature, les #arbres, et développe ses compétences en #permaculture
- un peu de #photographie de rue
I can't explain it, but browsing via the Gemini protocol has a calming effect on me? I'm focused on the content. Found a Gemini front end for Wikipedia and it's clicking for me. No distractions, just content + links.
> I have no idea what I'm doing but it's fun to poke at new things.

🚨 Let’s Encrypt at risk from Trump cuts to OTF: “Let’s Encrypt received around $800,000 in funding from the OTF”
Dear @EUCommission, get your heads out of your arses and let’s find @letsencrypt €1M/year (a rounding error in EU finances) and have them move to the EU.
If Let’s Encrypt is fucked, the web is fucked, and the Small Web is fucked too. So how about we don’t let that happen, yeah?
(In the meanwhile, if the Let’s Encrypt folks want to make a point about how essential they are, it might be an idea to refuse certificates to republican politicians. See how they like their donation systems breaking in real time…)

A few months ago I shared a guide on how to make a website in (about) five minutes with as little code as possible.
And if that's still too much code, here's a follow up with almost none.
Hope you'll enjoy!

If you are curious about where the "Retejo" name comes from —
The way the name "retejo" was chosen was inspired by how the name "forgejo" chosen.

My Actual #smallweb kitten experience.
https://screwlisp.small-web.org/kitten/actual-kitten-experience/
What I discovered is that #webdev -ing an article "properly" which is to say using all the features your framework provides (i.e. https://kitten.small-web.org/ ) absorbs an absolute ton of extra work. Comparable to being formal in mathematics. I am interested in how that extra work exposes my own articles to me better later.
I also propose FIPA SL's extension to #ISO8601 as a general time format in #commonLisp . cc @aral

Demonstratively implemented my memory cardgame from yesterday purely in https://kitten.small-web.org/.
It is a pretty interesting demo and I think shows you how we can do it
but I have two standing problems:
a.The memory cards are not per-session. So someone else changes yours.
b. EDIT : it works now. I was missing a necessary <div id='foo' morph></div> which is the element that bears the js update.
cc @aral if you have notes.
Hey, you, reader:
Ever been browsing someone's blog, website, repo -- even their social web profile -- and thought to yourself "Wow, that's really neat. I love what they did here!"
Consider telling them! Someone on here made a post a while back encouraging people to do just that, and I've tried to make a conscious habit of contacting the authors of neat little indie and smolweb sites.
Email, guestbook, comment; whatever it might be, consider reaching out somehow to share your appreciation. You might be surprised at how much it makes their day.
You might also be surprised to discover how much making their day makes yours, too.

Hey fediverse! Question for those of you who have their own website (and don't mind being anonymously quoted):
What do you like about having a personal website?

A neat idea to make a website a more social experience.
"I wanted presence, not a social network. Something lightweight and temporary. A small reminder that there are other people here too."
Tomorrow is HTML Day!
"On Saturday, August 8th, 2026, we'll be gathering in places around the world to write and celebrate HTML."
Lots of events, including online. Should be fun!
New version of #SmolFedi, a lightweight, no-JavaScript Fediverse client written in PHP. It respects #smolweb specs.
It works fine with all basic browser such as #netsurf So you can access Fediverse on #retro computer have a basic browser (need cookies feature).
You can install it on a simple web server with php8.x / pdo_sqlite / php_curl
