Inside a shed. With three windows to look out of. It’s not raining for once. The shed is almost entirely made from recycled, reused, reclaimed and repaired materials. <a href="/tags/repairreuserecycle/" rel="tag">#RepairReuseRecycle</a> <a href="/tags/gardening/" rel="tag">#Gardening</a> <a href="/tags/solarpunk/" rel="tag">#SolarPunk</a> <a href="/tags/allotment/" rel="tag">#Allotment</a>

Windows fitted on three sides of a shed. One window has a white frame with no glass. The end window is a recycled shower screen and the third window has a green painted frame with white window panels. The windows will be painted when the weather has warmed up enough. Inside the shed are five wooden core sample boxes stacked on a table and a bench respectively. Some bottles of various home made amendments for the garden are stacked inside two blue wooden crates. Some reclaimed blue chipboard is fixed underneath the windows.

The sun was slowly climbing over the horizon, bathing everything in warm, morning light. Flocks of docile clouds dotted the sky, a welcome contrast to the angry storms of the last week. All-in-all a perfect start for a haircut day.With a cup of steaming hot wakeup tea in hand, I went through my morning routine. Energy storage was full, thanks to the storms, and I diverted incoming power from the wind farm to Bearlington, they still had capacity. Two turbines with reduced efficiency and a couple of blades due for their checkups. I sent a message to the maintenance list. Solar output was way down, but we'd take care of that today.I took a careful sip of tea and scrunched my face. This harvest had extra punch. The startup routine for the drone went through without issues and I loaded the shears and chainsaw before I took my seat, which made the load indicator turn yellow. Curse those cookies. Well, as they say: "fly yellow, it's mellow".The trip up the mountainside to our solars went smooth and I saw that two drones had already landed. Sam and Juri were chatting and drinking tea when I joined them."Pretty early and pretty fast, this year." Sam said, as she drew work areas onto a map on her tablet and sent them to us. The mild and wet weather had made the forest spill into the clearing for the panels, and reclaim what was rightfully hers."Jup." Juri laughed and let his hydro shears clack. I tried out the trommel. It sieved a wheelbarrow load of compost in no time. <a href="/tags/solarpunk/" rel="tag">#SolarPunk</a> <a href="/tags/gardening/" rel="tag">#Gardening</a> <a href="/tags/compost/" rel="tag">#Compost</a>

A wire mesh cylinder with bike rims and tyres at each end sits on a wooden frame over a wheelbarrow. Sieved compost is in the wheelbarrow. Oversized compost materials are in a blue trug between the handles of the wheelbarrow.

Estoy escribiendo una cosa que bien podría ser una novela y me gustaría que alguien la leyera y me diera una opinión sincera. Me falta aún terminarla pero está muy avanzada y ya digo, que me da que está saliendo más una novela que un relato por su extensión. ¿Sabéis de alguien?

The beautiful 'Boomtoren' building (it might look a bit dark, but hey that's Dutch weather for ya) at the "Hof van Cartesius: in Utrecht. "Hof van Cartesius" is a place in Utrecht, but also a coop of circulair green organizations & entrepreneurs. They have 3500 m2 workspace in 8 pavilions with ovr 1500 m2 outside natural space. To me it looks like a combination of Mad Max, Studio Ghibli and Solarpunk got together and built a village. Check out their website (in Dutch, but auto translate will help):

Results of a couple of hours of compost turning. <a href="/tags/compost/" rel="tag">#Compost</a> <a href="/tags/gardening/" rel="tag">#Gardening</a> <a href="/tags/allotment/" rel="tag">#Allotment</a> <a href="/tags/nodig/" rel="tag">#NoDig</a> <a href="/tags/mulch/" rel="tag">#Mulch</a> <a href="/tags/solarpunk/" rel="tag">#SolarPunk</a>

A four bay compost pen made with pallets and various wooden fences. Three compost piles are in the bays. One pile of hot compost started last summer on the left, a cold compost pile of grassier materials on the right. Just visible behind the cold pile is a pile made from the winter veg peelings, sawdust and horse manure. Three compost daleks alongside the wooden bays contain weeds and green manures removed from the beds this spring.

A view of the compost bays from the other side. A hazel pole is propping up the middle fence divider. The compost bay is empty. The other three bays have compost piles. The nearest pile will be turned into the empty pile. The composting materials in the three daleks will be turned into the newly emptied bay. Any new compost material will once again go into the compost daleks. Each layer of green material in the daleks has sawdust and reasonably fresh horse manure added to it.

Five coloured trugs of home made compost ready for adding to the raised bed at home. Three trugs are yellow, one trug is blue and the other trug is turquoise. They have been quickly sieved with a trommel. They are on a path of wood chip and shredded verbena prunings.

I look forward to the post capitalist days when I can go outside and enjoy the green shaded paths, and graze from the abundance on trees and bushes at will, watch all the colorful birds, and meet up at the local makerspace, skillshare, tool and appliance library, repair cafe, music, art studios & gallery and performance space, farmers market, coop greenhouse & solar powered food trucks in former parking lots, gardens, flea markets, etc. that took over a former mall. <a href="/tags/vision/" rel="tag">#vision</a> <a href="/tags/future/" rel="tag">#future</a> <a href="/tags/solarpunk/" rel="tag">#solarpunk</a>
