Monsoon rains have returned to the mountains of southern New Mexico.

An overcast day that looks out over successive rolling ridges covered with conifers. The most distant ridges are almost totally obscured by the haze and rain in the air that is not quite fog.

Low angle evening sun shines on monsoon storm clouds, but many of them are in shadow and appear dark.

Conifers cover all the mountain terrain and two of them bracket the sides of the frame.
