<p>关于Telegram创始人在法国被捕 ——</p><p>目前消息不多。但Telegram的未来和杜罗夫个人的未来可能并不相关。整个系统不太可能只与一个人联系在一起，尤其是至少有两个杜罗夫 - 还有他的兄弟。</p><p>帕维尔·杜罗夫很可能是 Telegram 的 “代言人”，但他的管理功能有限。帕维尔·杜罗夫曾在俄罗斯亲身经历过 VK被接管的事件，再加上不久前 Telegram 遭到的猛烈攻击，其逻辑必然会促使 Telegram 的管理层将关键的管理职能 “分拆”到不同的人手中。</p><p>从这个意义上说，如果 Telegram 的战略家们还拥有最起码的脑子，那么即使失去了公司的第一张公众面孔，也不会成为公司倒闭的原因。</p><p>当然，尚不清楚的是杜罗夫抵达法国的原因，因为对他的拘留令在法国生效。一定是发生了什么事，他才会冒这样的风险。不过猜测这些的意义不大。</p><p>可以理解的是，目前很多人会把这次拘留与杜罗夫和普京之间可能的会面联系起来，但这个可能性比较低，因为逮捕令是很久以前就签发了的，法国应该没有如此远见的人以至于能够在一年前就预测到这次会面。</p><p><a href="/tags/telegram/" rel="tag">#telegram</a></p>

Telegram is *NOT* encrypted. Never was. </p><p>Marketing is (always) a lie.</p><p>Telegram only encrypt special &quot;secret chats&quot;. If you don’t know what those are, then you are part of the unencrypted 99%. Llevaban un discurso de héroes de internet que nos creímos. Hace varios años salí totalmente de WhatsApp por la falta de privacidad que tiene la aplicación y perdí contacto con sorprendentemente poca gente. Al final, si hay una voluntad, hay una vía y la mayoría se mudó, me llama o hablaba por correo. ¡Se puede!</p><p>El caso es que hoy se presenta un dilema igual: ¿a qué aplicación nos movemos? Mi recomendación es... ¡a ninguna! El problema no es de las aplicaciones en específico, sino del concepto de aplicación (o &quot;plataforma&quot;) en general. Como habitantes del fediverso, sabéis de qué hablo: la solución es la comunicación descentralizada. Las plataformas descentralizadas no pueden enmierdizarse porque su gobernanza es compartida. No están en manos de intereses económicos ni dependen de una empresa.</p><p>Recordatorio periódico de que la finalidad de las empresas no es mejorar el mundo, sino hacer dinero. En el caso de las aplicaciones de chat, vuestros mensajes son parte de sus activos y el coste derivado de vuestro uso, una obligación. Necesariamente la empresa tiene que cubrir obligaciones y lo va a hacer con los activos que posee.</p>

Donate to your local mods if you can, or at least give them a big virtual hug and say thanks. <p>End-to-End Encryption is good but metadata protection counts as much. Names, group descriptions and memberships, avatars, who talks to whom ... </p><p>Both <a href="/tags/deltachat/" rel="tag">#deltachat</a> and <a href="/tags/signal/" rel="tag">#signal</a> go to great length to protect all the metadata that WhatsApp grants itself gratuitously. <a href="/tags/matrix/" rel="tag">#Matrix</a> stores similar scales of metadata on their servers, even if you can choose which server stores it.</p><p>Everything is better than <a href="/tags/telegram/" rel="tag">#Telegram</a> which additionally stores message contents in all group chats/channels and most 1:1 chats.</p>
