„Ratatui - Are We Embedded Yet?” talk is finally online!
I gave the same talk at Rust Gdansk 9 and Rust Poland 1, this recording is from the second meetup.
It’s my first talk (not counting lightning talks) and I struggle with public speaking
(trying to change that) but I hope you like it.
Btw. Terminal/presentation had to be re-recorded afterwards so that’s why typing is not in sync.
Bryndza coming straight to your fridge!
(It’s no_std!)
We will be releasing beta soon.
Ratatui runs not only in terminal, but also in the browser, on PSP, Minecraft, UEFI, Suzuki Baleno and a guitar tuner. What’s next?

Friends,
Is there a good kind of course/ guide/ how to for learning how to use the terminal (I'm currently running Fedora Linux) for dummies. No crypic abbreviations, no "run this string of code" and then no further explanation, no assuming I know anything but how to open the terminal. Something that starts with telling me what everything means that I see even when I first open the terminal. How to do the most basic things, before going into the more interesting things. One stept after the other.
Please tell me there is such a thing? I really want to learn.

Looking for testers for a new Mastodon TUI.
tooi is a re-implementation of the TUI included with toot, using a more modern framework which is easier to work with. It supports most features `toot tui` does, and some new ones too.
tooi is set to replace `toot tui` which has proven to be troublesome to support and extend.
💾 The File Count Challenge 🔎
Have you ever wondered how many PDFs, images, videos, or particular kind of files you have on your device? It is the time to find out.
I am hereby proud to officially launch a Fedi-wide file count challenge, in exclusive partnership with the 2025-27 class of @xpub 👾
💁 How to participate
Go to your main device (not mobile)
Open the terminal
Run find . | grep '.pdf$' -c (on Windows: gci -r | where Name -match '\.pdf$')
Repeat the previous command, replacing “pdf” with any file format you are interested in sharing. We suggest: jpg, mp3, and png. 🔆 Bonus: html, js, ttf, odt, svg
Take a screenshot of the output
Share the screenshot on the Fediverse, using the #fileCountChallenge hashtag (please, copy-paste the actual text from the terminal in the image description/alt text)
Add your (user)name and results to the scoreboard
🆒 Bonus: share the story explaining why you have so many/little files for one format.
🏆 Awards
There is a secret prize for the three people who have the most PDFs, JPEGs, and HTMLs. More info to follow.
Boost, share, fork… Do whatever you want, but please have fun while doing it.
I willl keep writing updates. Yaaaaaaay ⌨️⌨️⌨️⌨️⌨️⌨️⌨️⌨️⌨️⌨️⌨️⌨️⌨️⌨️⌨️⌨️⌨️
