I'd love to know why so many houses in a certain part of #Putney are surmounted by sphinxes. Which by Barnes have become lions.
A makers mark for a certain builder or estate perhaps?

(Also, 'sphinges' is an acceptable plural of #sphinx. If I have to know this, so do you.)
