When we, Filipinos, say this super typhoon is as big as our entire country, we are not exaggerating...

Yay! Another story for Smile is out!

"Try These Unusual Travel Ideas When You’re in Metro Manila"
One time, a Malaysian newspaper mentioned 50 Cent the rapper, and said he would be 1.50 Malaysian ringgit.
The exchange rate is now USD 0.50 = MYR 2.11
Also known as
- S$0.64
- 8000 rupiah
- 28 pesos
One of my earliest food memories: buying fresh coconuts from the back of someone’s truck in a parking lot. Walking my coconuts to the back of the Econ Minimart where the auntie who ran it had a coconut squeezer and scraper. Walking away with fresh coconut milk, and a bag of coconut flesh. I was probably four
Then one time, walking to my office in Jakarta and realizing I couldn’t access it because the entire ground floor was full of actual coconuts.
The other day I was watching an American food show and the host was complaining about coconuts in their cake (“so unconventional, you don’t always want coconuts in cakes”) and I was like what are you talking about, I never NOT want coconuts. You guys just have shitty coconuts, shitty coconut milk, and words of all, terrible ‘coconut water’
I miss that part of the world so terribly.

I’m currently looking for translation work (English to Indonesian) and am completely open to both freelance gigs and full-time roles.
I’ve been doing this for about 8 years now, mostly handling smaller projects. I can help you translate and adapt websites, software, games, articles, scientific journals, and comics so they feel natural to an Indonesian audience.
To be completely transparent, my kebuli shop hasn't been doing well lately, and I need some cash to survive another month and to pay the bills, which is why I'm putting myself out there to take on more translation projects. Because of that, my rates are flexible, even if you just have a very small project or a quick piece of writing, I'd still love to help you out with it.
If you or anyone you know needs a Indonesian translator, please shoot me an email at [email protected].
You can check out my previous work and rates here
