„Wurzelwerk /// Footage“

A close-up, sepia-toned photograph showing the exposed, intricate root systems of two large trees on a riverbank. The thick tree trunks stand elevated, while a dense network of gnarled roots reaches down into the dark, leaf-littered ground. In the background, thick branches and foliage create a shaded, almost mystical forest atmosphere.

I decided to go a bit ‘arty’ with this photo. Hope I pulled it off. This tree really stood out at Mount Usher Gardens - the bright yellow leaves were almost fluorescent! https://buff.ly/cdyN0uo

A vertical photograph treated with a soft, ethereal edit, featuring a slender deciduous tree centred on a lush green lawn. The tree's feathery, delicate foliage shifts from bright chartreuse green to warm, luminous gold in the upper canopy. Sunlight filters softly from behind, silhouetting fine branches against a pale blue sky dotted with soft white clouds. In the background, deeper green trees and dense garden borders frame the scene, while subtle pink garden flowers and soft vignetted greenery rest in the immediate foreground. The overall mood is airy, bright, and painterly.

One of my favourite places on Dartmoor is Wistman's Wood, and I took a friend to see it, on a warm and sunny day, earlier this month.
A short walk from the road takes you to a boulder-strewn hillside, densely-packed with stunted oaks, mosses, lichens, and ferns; a small oasis of residual temperate rainforest in the barren expanse of the Moor.
It's a magical spot.

A dense thicket of dwarf oak trees sits amongst boulders in dappled sunlight. Most surfaces are covered in moss, lichen or fern. The whole scene is very green.

It doesn’t look like the cloud is clearing this morning so here’s one from the other day proving that the iPhone telephoto lens is still the best lens.

Of Trees, Tenderness, and the Moon: Hasui Kawase’s Stunning Japanese Woodblock Prints from the 1920s-1950s – The Marginalian

❮“After you have exhausted what there is in business, politics, conviviality, love, and so on — have found that none of these finally satisfy, or permanently wear — what remains?” the aging Walt Whitman asked in his diary as he contemplated what makes life worth living while recovering from a paralytic stroke, then answered: “Nature remains… the trees, fields, the changes of seasons — the sun by day and the stars of heaven by night.” …❯

Autumn in the aspens! Golden leaves, pale trunks, and a forest full of color. I love wandering through these groves in the mountains of northern New Mexico, especially when the leaves are at their peak. Every direction offers another beautiful view.
