除了专门讲述新英雄背景故事的动画外，守望每一个动画短片都以一个英雄作为主角，来推动守望先锋整体剧情的发展。
上一部动画《我们出发吧》讲述的是小美在南极的过往，以及受到温斯顿召唤而在南极自救，之后加入守望先锋的故事。
而2017暴雪嘉年华上公布的新动画短片《荣耀》，就讲述了莱因哈特年轻时还作为十字军，在艾兴瓦尔德战斗的经历。
动画开场就借着莱因哈特的铸甲师布里吉特之口，为所有玩家提出一个问题：
“你为守望先锋效力那么多年，你把一切都先给了他们，最后却被赶了出来，为什么还要再回去，为什么还要再战斗？”
吧台前看着手中守望先锋的徽章，白发骑士陷入沉思，我们带着这个问题同莱因哈特一起回到过去……
白发历经沧桑的莱因哈特拿着斑驳老旧的守望先锋徽章，随即镜头切换，

电视动画《奇异太郎少年的妖怪绘日记》改编自影山理一所作的同名漫画，于2016年4月28日宣布TV动画化，于同年10月5日播放。
