2011 debut album from band featuring various Touch & Go alumni. Hailing from Louisville KY, King's Daughters & Sons feature members of Rachel's, Shipping News, The For Carnation and Shannon Wright. Three years in the making If Then Not When was recorded by Kevin Ratterman (California Guitar Trio, My Morning Jacket, Wax Fang) and mastered by Bob Weston (Shellac). King's Daughters & Sons are informed by, though not beholden to, the history of its respective members: haunting, spare and at times explosively unsettling, they have been described as part William Faulkner, part Led Zeppelin.

When we first heard the seductive sounds of Meghan Remy’s U.S. Girls in 08, we immediately fell in love with both the music and the persona. For her third full length “U.S. Girls on Kraak”, this astonishing muse of modern pop music extends her old lo-fi aesthetics into what is her most melodic and radio friendly output so far. Remy’s vocal abilities get a major stress on this record, clearly laying bare her sixties girl band and nineties R’nB influences, without losing touch with her early roughness en experimentalism. In barely thirty minutes Remy moves from the hit parade flavoured ‘Island Song’, over her sublime cover of Brandy & Monica’s ‘The Boy Is Mine’, to an actual classic country song. This is all intertwined with her usual talent for shortsong-writing and raw esoteric scapes. “U.S. Girls on KRAAK” is probably Remy’s most accesible work to date, and a highlight in her oeuvre that might mark the end of her ‘early years’.

<Break Of Dawn> (formerly titled <Milk & Honey>) is the fourth studio album from Bay Area vocalist Goapele after a five-year-long hiatus.
The first single, "Milk & Honey", was leaked on the Internet July 10th, 2009, while the video directed by David Telles went into rotation on August 4th, 2009, and was shot with the Red One Camera. It offers a more suggestive and seductive vibe then what fans may be accustomed to from the singer. Goapele is known to incorporate messages of politics, love, romance, and struggle into her music. The second single, "Right Here", is a love song produced by Drumma Boy.
On August 28th, 2011, Goapele released the third single, "Play", a sensual song produced by Dan Electric & Teddy Thunderbolt.
<Break Of Dawn> is being recorded at the Zoo in Downtown Oakland, California, home of Goapele's Skylight Studios. This project will be another personal album with several love songs as well as up-tempo joints. Production-wise, tracks with Drumma Boy, Bedrock, Kanye West, Dan Electric, Mike Tiger, Bobby Ozuna (Raphael Saadiq, John Mayer, Erykah Badu), Malay (John Legend, Mary J. Blige), Jeff Bhasker (The Game, Kanye West, Ludacris, T.I.), and other musicians are confirmed.
On this album Goapele reveals a more confident, open, and sensual side. She says she is liberating herself a little more and claims while there was something very empowering about appearing in a T-shirt without make-up on the cover of her first internationally distributed album, <Even Closer>, there is something equally empowering about shedding her fears of music-industry exploitation and strutting confidently into more brazen territory. She says, "Now if I want to dress sexy, I can, and if I want to be more blunt, I can. I just want to do what feels good."

All Will Prosper, Keith Kenniff's latest album under the Goldmund moniker, is a collection of 14 traditional Civil War-era folk songs and one contemporary track "Asoken Farewell." Kenniff has always been a student of Civil War history and culture. From the Ken Burns documentary series on PBS to Bill Carothers' solo piano album The Blues and The Greys, he has studied and enjoyed the music that tied friends and families together in a time when the nation was being torn apart.
Recorded over a period of 5 years in various houses in Massachusetts, Oregon, and North Carolina, Kenniff's arrangements here feel fresh and intimate, while retaining the wistful charms and timeless appeal of the originals. In part the album's intimacy is created by his recording technique. With the top of the piano left completely open, microphones were placed close enough to capture the mechanical movement of the keys being pressed and the pedals squeaking. Similarly the acoustic guitar is close-mic'd, tracing the sounds of his fingers scraping and plucking the metal strings. The result creates a rich, almost hyper-real environment, where the tiniest details are magnified and brought to the surface.
More than capturing the pain, struggles, and loss associated with war, Kenniff's arrangements shine with the hopefulness, and enduring strength and determination of individuals, and the nation as a whole, after the war. Despite the loss and obstacles that lie ahead, these are songs to accompany the healing and rebirth of a nation full of potential and moving forward.

It doesn't appear that Mark E. Smith and his legendary English post-punk act the Fall have any plans to slow the break-neck recording pace they've maintained over the last three decades. As Slicing Up Eyeballs reports, the band will release their 29th studio album, Ersatz G.B., on November 14 via Cherry Red Records. They'll also take a short tour around the UK to promote the record.
