话说唐僧师徒四人逶迤来到万寿山五庄观，是时观主镇元子赴元始天尊处听道闻法，已预先嘱咐徒儿清风和明月用人参果款待东土高僧。这人参果是人间罕见的珍馐美味，吃上一口便可延年益寿，长生不老。可是唐僧见人参果是娃娃形状，坚决不肯食用，引来清风明月的笑话。而猪八戒垂涎人参果的美味，遂怂恿师兄孙悟空入园盗取。此举引起清风明月和唐僧师徒的争执，孙悟空恼羞成怒更打断人参果树，由此惹来一系列的祸端。
本片根据中国古典四大名著之一的西游记中的故事改编，并荣获1983年菲律宾第二届马尼拉国际电影节特别奖。
