《星之海的爱玛丽》是米たにヨシトモ继2000年TVA《BRIGADOON まりんとメラン》以来7年之后的最新原创动画，他除了《勇者王GAOGAIGAR》外，还担任过《高达Seed》、《高达Seed Denstiny》和《灼眼的夏娜》中的原画工作。本次动画的人物设计及3D设计都将由《らぶデス》等Gal Game的著名画师MA@YA负责，音乐则请来了代表作为《京四郎与永远的天空》和《神无月的巫女》等作品的洼田ミナが制作。。官网还公布了豪华的声优阵容，其中包括牧野由依、能登麻美子、小林清志等人。因主役《翼年代记》中的小樱而开始走红的牧野由依在动画中出演主角爱玛丽。
