某个夜晚，在被称作东京起点的日本桥的麒麟雕像旁边，一名男子踉跄着跌倒，最终失血过多死亡。死者名叫青柳武明（中井贵一 饰），是金崎金属制造公司的本部长。颇令警方费解的是，青柳在腹部被刺的情况下并没有立刻叫救护车，而是隐忍着走了长达8分钟的路程。同一晚，无业青年八岛冬树（三浦贵大 饰）被卡车撞成重伤，昏迷不醒。因为他拿着青柳的公文包，所以警方将八岛看作重要嫌疑人。本案的种种疑点，令日本桥警署的刑警加贺恭一郎（阿部宽 饰）陷入思索之中。他不仅走访了青柳的家人、八岛的同居女友中原香织（新垣结衣 饰），还尝试着重走青柳生前在日本桥附近的生活足迹，种种谜团和各种情感纠葛渐渐浮出水面……

Sen no Rikyu (Ebizo Ichikawa) is the son of a fish shop owner. Sen no Rikyu then studies tea and eventually becomes one of the primary influences upon the Japanese tea ceremony. With his elegant esthetics, Sen no Rikyu is favored by the most powerful man in Japan Toyotomi Hideyoshi (Nao Omori) and becomes one of his closest advisors. Due to conflicts, Toyotomi Hideyoshi then orders Sen no Rikyu to commit seppuku (suicide). Director Mitsutoshi Tanaka's adaptation of Kenichi Yamamoto's award-winning novel of the same name received the Best Artistic Contribution Award at the 37th Montréal World Film Festival, the Best Director Award at the 2014 Osaka Cinema Festival, the 30th Fumiko Yamaji Cultural Award and the 37th Japan Academy Film Prize in nine categories, including Best Art Direction, Excellent Film and Excellent Actor.

1954年9月，一艘往来于青森和函馆的客轮在海上沉没，大批的乘客遇难。阿久津是青函隧道技术调查团的成员，正在津轻海峡进行调查，偶然地救了一个想自杀的女孩牧村多惠，并将他带到阿连经营的食品店工作。1956年，阿久津向上级汇报，认为青函隧道可以挖掘。第二年他被派往明石海峡调查，在故乡结婚生子。1964年，日本铁路公司成立，青函隧道开始动工，阿久津也来到青森。由于多惠的帮助，他招了一批立志为青函隧道献身的年轻人。施工后由于风大浪险的恶劣环境，两个月里工程只挖了五米。为完成父志，阿久津不顾风湿病折磨，始终战斗在施工现场。就在父亲病逝那天，隧道中发生冒顶事故，地下水汹涌而出。阿久津带着工人和技术人员奋力抢救，虽然不断有人负伤甚至牺牲但无人畏缩不前，终于制服了坑道渗水。日本最长的隧道完工了，阿久津在父亲的墓前献上了一束青森的草花。

Then, a military member implicated in arms-dealing bribes is gunned down. During the investigation, Public Security Section's Daisuke Aramaki encounters Motoko Kusanagi, the cyborg, wizard-level hacker assigned to the military's 501st Secret Unit. Batou, a man with the "eye that does not sleep," suspects that Kusanagi is the one behind the bombing. The Niihama Prefectural Police detective Togusa is pursuing his own dual cases of the shooting death and a prostitute's murder. Motoko herself is being watched by the 501st Secret Unit's head Kurutsu and cyborg agents.
