<p>Long Wharf has been the heart of Boston's waterfront for more than 300 years. <p>Put enough CO2 into the system all at once, and push the life-sustaining carbon cycle far enough out of equilibrium, and it might escape into a sort of planetary failure mode, where processes intrinsic to the Earth itself take over, acting as positive feedback to release dramatically more carbon into the system. <p>The <a href="/tags/camphousefire/" rel="tag">#CampHouseFire</a> (<a href="/tags/minnesota/" rel="tag">#Minnesota</a>) still burns to the north of our place, but the damage is done!</p><p>1) The cabin I used to own... Gone!</p><p>2) Our sauna... Gone!</p><p>3) My old partner was about to start a refurb on the cabin.</p><p>He recently had a shipping container dropped there and had moved a significant amount of stuff out of the cabin.</p><p>The container and its contents were unharmed!</p><p>4) The real miracle is his homestead was spared.</p><p>No details available, but I think the fire got pinched between the clearing around the buildings and the stream/bog/beaver pond behind it (left side of this picture).
