Créé en 1999 par Léonard Baniekona, Ngoma Za Kongo ((Drums of the Kongo [Kingdom]) est un groupe congolais de musique et danse traditionnelles du Congo Brazzaville. Composé de nombreux artistes, tous fortement imprégnés de la tradition Kongo, le groupe a, depuis sa création, fait plusieurs tournées en Afrique, Europe, Etats-Unis d’Amérique et Asie.
A finger cajon nearing completion, my latest mini-project.
The standard cajon is a fairly large box-shaped instrument originated by African slaves in Peru who were denied traditional drums & resorted to shipping crates to get rhythmic. One sits on top and slaps, taps, etc. – most have snare drum wire mounted within for added sonic brightness & texture.
Handmade from 1/4" pine, bamboo mini-skewers & wood glue.
