Hi, neighbors! I've been using Mastodon across various instances since 2018, maybe earlier. Lately I've felt the need to start using a smaller instance as my go-to. And then I remembered I made this account on writing.exchange nearly 3 years ago and haven't done anything with it. I've been using Write.as since 2020 and absolutely love it. And I've been meaning to get back into some blogging. So here I am. Check my bio for my blog URL and tags about some of my interests.

Hey, my first post here on Mastodon! Allow me to introduce myself! I am a hobbyist LEGO stop motion animator and aspiring storyteller! I like good stories focused on original concept as well as great stories around already established franchises (Sonic, etc.).
I hope to gain some traction on this new platform, and some new attention and feedback on my work as a whole!

Time for a fresh #Introduction post. Been 18 months since the last one.
I'm Cait, late 50s, GenX, transitioned at 26 in 1992. I used to translate (not interpret) French, German, and Russian to English, for 23 years. I'm now retired due to disability (I use a cane for mobility), and my primary occupation is activism for the queer community.
I am comfortable (to a greater or lesser degree) conversing in French, German, Russian, or Spanish (in decreasing order of ability to speak well), and I can converse in basic Japanese too.
I am autistic and have ADHD, making me neurospicy to a degree that makes my white ass somewhat uncomfortable, just because of the word spicy.
I don't identify as having been an egg; my trans is more of a bulb, sending up shoots repeatedly to try and blossom, only to be cut down again and again. I always knew, as far back as I have memory, that I was a girl. I was genuinely confused why other people couldn't see it. I believe gatekeeping is fundamentally immoral, and should be resisted.
I post a lot about trans stuff, and some about political stuff. I support radical bodily autonomy, police and prison abolition, Marxist mutual aid, and anti-racism.
I do not maintain my passing privilege, so that I can be a visible trans person in my safe community, so that people know we live among them, and we're just ordinary, green-haired, tattooed, anime-loving, weed-smoking senior citizens like anyone else.
I have an abiding love for football (:soccer: ), Tottenham, music from Jamaica, and being part of the trans and autistic communities.
I live in the colonial power known in the West as Canada, on stolen land. And I have a #PrivilegeJar.
ACAB; Black Lives Matter; Trans Lives Matter; Black Trans Lives Matter!
I am also a Major in the 3rd Battalion, 10th Division of Antifa International, with command of a thousand hardy antifa superwarriors, ready to infiltrate your right-wing protest at any time.
Hi Mastodon! I’m Sheril 👋
I am a scientist working in the U.S. Senate on policies related to energy, environment, ocean, ag & tech!
I also host Serving Up Science on PBS & wrote a couple of books.
My PhD is in community sustainability & I’m broadly interested in how we make decisions about science. #introduction
Hi there, kind #fedizens 👋
Time for reintroductions. I have been a janitor on the #fedi for a couple of years, mopping floors, plumbing toilets, fixing intercoms. That kind of work. While satisfying in itself, it is unpaid and looked down upon, unthankful work.
So now I am reorientating. Don't wanna work for free anymore, can't even. I need food to help improve the world :)
Unsure where I'll walk, I put dreams first. And can gift you short introduction nuggets, as I know more.
Time to make a new #introduction
I'm a freelance 2D video game artist from France, living in Frankfurt am Main. I mostly work as a pixel artist for Tuesday Quest and I also make sprites and my own games on itchio: https://sev-4.itch.io/
new #introduction! this jasmine [ʝasˈmiːn] is an intense and inconsistent 40+ single mom. formerly a lot of things including composer, political activist and teacher, but three years ago transformed into a project of healing both self and others. multi-dimensional masker and neuroqueer with an &. possesses skills like creepy people reading, chaotic moving and unconditional love. hobbies may include psychology, long walks and giving cis women gender envy. i like hugs, trans people and vengeance. will always be online and never clean my room 💕
Perhaps I need an #introduction.
I am the goddess Anoia.
I am the goddess of things stuck in drawers. And volcanoes.
I mostly watch the #discworld but have been known to stray into roundworld so it's best to stay on my good side.
Every time you swear at a stuck drawer, I am there. Rattle them and pray.
I may branch out into looking after things that fall down the back of unmovable furniture, and coins found in sofas.

#Introduction Hi #fediverse ! We’re the European Southern Observatory, and we design, build and operate ground-based telescopes.
One of them is our Extremely Large Telescope, currently under construction in #Chile. It will have a 39 m mirror, and its rotating enclosure will weigh 6100 tonnes, or about 700 mastodons!
We’re looking forward to chatting with all of you about #astronomy

I've joined @cnrs as a GIS Engineer at CEREGE (Environmental geosciences research and teaching centre) in Aix-en-Provence, France where I'll be working on remote sensing, but with a focus on very high-resolution acquisition (by photogrammetry and LiDAR) So back in the field !
Very interested too in #OpenData, #OpenStreetMap and #PublicHealth Research since a previous job at @ird_fr
Love hiking, trekking and doing via ferrata 🧗
Fuck it. #introduction post now.
I am Lord Draken BlackKnight, Keeper of the Scroll of The Court of Lazarus. I also manage the unofficial Mastodon page which is still on my previous instance. I've been a Citizen of The Court of Lazarus for over 19 years and will be part of Council when we have the final Court next week.
As far as why else I'm on masto-dot-nyc, I live in the Parkchester area of the Bronx with my wife Tygerlander (who is not on Mastodon).
long thread/1

Finally, an updated #introduction: Hello! From #Shanghai to #Montreal, now in #NewYorkCity. Master #student in #ComputerScience at #NYU Tandon, still struggling to figure out what I gonna do next. Gained notoriety for making Barinsta, now I hang out in #Matrix and ActivityPub circles and code stuff once in a while. Am a #FediAdmin. Fervent user of #PublicTransport. Knows too little of too many things. Posts are #SliceOfLife + minor commentaries. Happy to have an IRL #meetup with y'all!
How”z it going?
I'll reintroduce myself... again, or would it be an update? (No, really, I'm asking - I've been stuck in a loop and I've lost all sense of time.) I don't know, but let's do it!
I'm Kakitsune, a 35-year-old furry artistic folf living in the United States.
Besides illustrations and animations, my interests are similar to everyone else's: I enjoy anime, video games, and the Linux ecosystem, although I'm also a newbie. If you see me struggling to apt-get my way out of a paper bag, just give me a gentle nudge in the right direction. So, say it with me: “I'm interested in these things as much as the next person.”
I might create and dabble with some NSFW content, so minors beware!
If you're ready for a chat that's equal parts polite, respectful, and utterly ridiculous, feel free to send me a DM. Just don't expect me to be too serious - I'm a folf with a sense of humor, and I'm always up for a good laugh (or a bad pun).
#introduction
Somehow I don't think I've ever done one of these despite being around so long?
I work in a public library makerspace building Vorons and whatnot. I love exploring the Fediverse, especially figuring out how the different platforms can interact. Weird stuff like "Can I post to a Lemmy foraging community from Loops?", etc. I love growing edible plants native to the Northeast U.S.A., and figuring out (vegetarian) dishes that could've been made in the Eastern Agricultural Complex 7000 years ago. I try to stick to open source hardware and software wherever possible. I can read and write in ·𐑖𐑱𐑝𐑾𐑯 for some reason. I love textiles, specifically all the unique ways that threads can be linked together to produce different structures. Knitting is great, but there's also sprang and nålbinding and ply-split braiding! I love indie fighting games, especially Battle Craze!! What else... I like fermenting stuff, EndeavourOS, foraging invasives, anarchism, long walks, GrapheneOS, reading, ergomech keyboards, trackballs, and being nice to strangers on the internet.
He has a strong background in various aspects of information technology and web design, showcasing his work on platforms like GitHub, Codepen and Medium.
His skills span across UI/UX design, web development, and IT infrastructure, with expertise in tools like CSS, HTML, JavaScript frameworks and web performance optimizations. He is also involved in open-source projects. He appears to be actively engaged in both professional IT endeavors and creative projects.
Obviously due to the distributed nature of the Fediverse it's never going to be possible to tell how many UK users have joined Mastodon/Firefish/Fedi in the last week or so.
But I'd be curious to know if anecdotally anyone thinks there have been an uptick in new UK accounts here.
2020: Started recording original songs and uploading to Soundcloud to a positive reception. Original project was to grab people I had worked with in the past and record something with them. Recorded a few songs with Reid playing some bass and guitar parts on various tracks, and he sung Proud Woman. Recorded one song with Kaaren which Reid also played some guitar on.
2021: Worked on some music solo after having some difficulties with arranging recording sessions with others. Undertook the massive task of learning Blender to make the Space Pop music video.
2022: Lost job. Lost a ton of project files from a computer crash. Attempted and catastrophically failed to assemble a band to take #DgarMusic to the live scene. Ended up deciding that if Harry Nilsson can write songs without ever performing live, so can I. Got some part time creative work. Then #Dgar joined Mastodon.
2023: Told awful jokes, posted terrible memes, and promoted my music on Mastodon. Met amazing Fedizens and connected with incredible musicians, songwriters, and artists. Got played on underground online radio stations, created my own hashtags, and grew my audience.
2024: Wanted to get back into recording, so my New Years Resolution was to write a song a month. Did my first collaboration with an artist from another country (@Onj) which was awesome. I ended up breaking my new years resolution after six months and six new songs after family tragedy struck thrice. My mother passed away, and a few weeks later, we lost my older sister in a traffic accident. The stress of all this may have been the reason my younger sister then presented with “Functional Neurological Disorder”, or #FND. Thankfully she is on the road to recovery now, although that road seems very long and difficult. I’m currently dabbling with some YouTube projects while I get my songwriting mojo back, namely #CillasGarden, and a #Valheim Let’s Play.
Future: I’m having trouble writing songs at the moment - I’m not in the right headspace, I guess. I’m jotting down ideas here and there, but I’m also toying with the idea of working on some sort of album. I really want to do a #Satisfactory Let’s Play when 1.0 drops next month too. I also have to figure out how to get more people to listen to my #music because the stats would suggest only about 1% of the people following me have ever played one of my tracks. The stats are on the right trajectory though which, I hope, is an indication that I’m doing something right.
Once again, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all of you who enjoy my work and share this journey with me. Your support has kept me going, even when all I wanted to do was give up.
Big love. Forever grateful.
First post! #introduction
Hi everyone, I’m trying to make the leap from corporate-owned social platforms over to the #fediverse and #mastodon . I’m excited to be here, and would appreciate any tips to help me wrap my head around this. Thank you! #newhere
Hello, I'm an open source software engineer in my late 30s living in #Seoul, #Korea, and an avid advocate of #FLOSS and the #fediverse.
I'm the creator of @fedify, an #ActivityPub server framework in #TypeScript, and @hollo, a fediverse microblog for single users.
I'm also very interested in East Asian languages (so-called #CJK) and #Unicode. Feel free to talk to me in #English, #Korean (#한국어), or #Japanese (#日本語), or even in Literary Chinese (#文言文/#漢文)!
