Hey @kde with the recent birthdate field being introduced into systemd and the lead developer being obnoxiously stupid about it, Plasma desktop relying more on systemd feels wrong.
Given the circumstances, I urge you to please reconsider systemd dependency on KDE platform and if possible, please think of alternatives.
When you said X11 is getting axed from the codebase, I was ok with because Wayland has improved significantly over the years and offers more almost all the functionality from X11; systemd is different.
This post is an attempt to make my case as a (happy and satisfied) KDE Plasma user for few years so please think again about getting in bed with that project.

What's good for hardware is good for the budget … and environment! 🌻
LliureX #Linux with #KDEPlasma in Valencian schools saves the public administration *3.5 million euros a year* for 110,000 computers. [1]
* School HW has lifespan up to 18 years while running up-to-date software [2]
* Cheap easy-to-manage "light clients" ideal for very old upcycled HW [3]
* LliureX-Shutdowner saves energy by turning off unused computers school-wide [4]
#sailfish #linux #mobiltelefon

Is there any developer eligible to write such driver for linux?

There are clearly many reasons why people are switching to Vivaldi. Interestingly, my little survey shows that the top reasons have more to do with our values than particular features.
The #1 reason (77%) is the fact that we do not have built in AI. #2 is that we do not build profiles on our users (67%). #3 is that we are made in Europe. #4 and #5 is that we do not build in Crypto currencies and the built in ad and tracker blocker.
We will continue to listen to our users. We have chosen a different path to our competitors and we continue to try to do the right thing.
Thank you for your support!

GNOME looks easier for non-technical users, but in practice it’s just more limited.
COSMIC is the one that looks most promising for me, but feels early days.

Either way, the days of the full featured native macos app seem to be behind us. Lots of old good apps, and lots of new iOS style or web app style ones.

update-notifier-crash on Ubuntu 24.04 wrote 1 Tbyte of garbage to syslog before I noticed and stopped it. I noticed because it filled the disk.Unbelievably annoying behavior. I guess that'll teach me to ignore an update notification rather than figuring out how to disable it forever.
