Hey! Fedi friends! The new Convair album, "Lived Ever After" is available, just a bit early for #BandcampFriday. It's set it to "name your own price" but as this is my only source of income, paying is greatly appreciated. This marks the first time I've ever done vocals for Convair and my first-ever post-transition vocals nonetheless. It also marks a return to studio tracks with things like drums and bass. The #Ethiopiques series which began in the late 1990s was responsible for introducing many of us in the US and Europe to the brilliant sounds of 60s & 70s Ethiopian jazz. I worked at a record shop in New Orleans around 2010 and the owner, who was also obsessed with this music, traveled to Ethiopia and brought back dozens of #cassettes. There’s quite an array here—from vocal to instrumental, folk to jazz. My favorite might be the Ali Mohammed Birra tape. He was featured on later Ethiopiques compilations and is considered an icon of Oromo music.
Thanks to @cybeardjm for reminding me of this beautiful music and for the constant stream of #music from The Continent.
I was going to edit this. I viewed it first. I'd forgotten how many changes I'd made to both the music and the video. Thus far, I think this is my best music video, although Buckets of Ants is pretty good, too, imho.
