I posted this photo on bsky yesterday, and it turned into a story.

I wasn’t in a doing-artistic headspace yesterday. So I just went through the raw images from the day (Hi, @recursive! my gracious host) and posted something unassuming. It “deserved a grade,” and didn’t get one.

I did the grade this morning. And realized something: it’s not the same. Process as tells; chromatic aberration fixed by the camera-processing brought back by choice; careful placement of edges, highlighting flare. It’s curated. Not a moment. Not the same thing at all.

I know that leaving tells of the process in art is a thing, but seeing myself actually do it without real intent is interesting.

We're looking northeast across a tidal mudflat toward two nearby islets, and beyond that, to Meares Island, and then the mainland in the distance, I think that's Clayoquot Arm Provincial Park.
