Museum of Man

I went down to Balboa Park and found a photographers Paradise. The buildings are magnificent and the architecture is out of this world beautiful.
This building was built for the 1915 Panama-American Exposition and is truly an impressive structure.
I had explored most of the park and then saw this beautiful structure looming up framed by the palm trees.

Sunset Cliffs
Sunset Cliffs in San Diego is a stretch of rock on the shore of the Pacific Ocean in the Pt. Loma area of San Diego California.
Along Sunset Cliffs Blvd are many homes that enjoy this million dollar view.
Certain areas of the cliffs have undeveloped trails that will allow access to the Pacific Ocean but they can be dangerous if one is not careful.

Sunset Cliffs

The scene opens with the Pacific stretching out like a sheet of molten glass, its surface softened into a silky blur by the long exposure used just before sun down. The waves don’t crash so much as breathe—broad, misty strokes of white and pale blue that glide around the base of the cliffs, giving the water an almost dreamlike stillness.

Balboa Park B and W

One of my favorite places in San Diego besides the beaches, is Balboa Park. This park has it all from their world class zoos to their fantastic museums, gardens and theatres.
This image was captured early in the morning. I walked the streets and sidewalks around the different museums. This arch and the repeating patterns down the walkway grabbed my attention.

Local #SanDiego reporter Kelly Davis has passed away. Her reporting on jail deaths - which stretched back into the 1990s before I ever moved here - is the foundation for everything I know about the issue

I never met her, but I’m gutted. Others will carry on her work, but her loss will be felt dearly

Coyote Thistle for #ThistleThursday due to the common name... but this plant is actually in the Apiaceae family, while thistles belong to the Asteraceae 🤪

The scientific name is Eryngium aristulatum var. parishii and another common name is San Diego Button Celery.

This is a rare/endangered native plant, due to limited distribution and habitat loss. It grows in vernal pools, of which >90% in San Diego have been lost due to development.

Spurges are generally pretty weird in my opinion, and the aptly-named Beetle Spurge (Euphorbia eriantha) justly earns a spot in the top part of the list.

Maybe it's alien and should be called UFOrbia? 😅
