She is standing on her surfboard, body facing the camera, her head angled back as she looks at the breaking wave behind her, perhaps with an anxious expression on her face. Sarracenia rubra has been putting out some decent pitchers in the latter part of the summer. This is subspecies wherryi, named after botanist Edgar T. Wherry, who did a lot of work on various species of Sarracenia. Native to restricted parts of Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida, it is also known as Wherry's sweet pitcher plant.
