“Wheat Field, The Cotswolds” — Trails cross a large wheat field in the Cotswolds.

At the end of May and beginning of June we waked for a week through England’s Cotswolds district hills. Our route took us from town to town, and each night we stayed in civilized accommodations. Yes, this is a lot different that the Sierra Nevada backpacking that I’ve done for decades! This area is, it seems, vacation country for a lot of Britons, and some of those towns can be pretty busy. After a day walking the green hills and woods, it can be something of a shock to enter them — but then again, there were comfortable beds and good food!

One of the best things about doing some of the trails around the Peak District is finding places you never knew existed.

One of the worst things about doing some of the trails around the Peak District is that you can rarely afford to spend as much time as you'd like photographing them.

I'd love to head back to this viaduct - the Marple Viaduct on the Peak Forest Canal - with a bit more time (and some more reliable film).

(Yashica D, Fomapan 200 in Rodinal)

A black and white photo taken from one end of the Marple Viaduct, showing the curve of the viaduct and the arches underneath. Unfortunately from this angle, you can't see the bottom, and you don't really get a sense of the scale of the whole thing. It's pretty bloody massive.

Chasing low autumn sunlight and thick moss through Crone Woods in Wicklow today. Decided to focus right on that tiny sunlit stump. https://buff.ly/3LR75Vq

#photography #Landscape #WoodlandPhotography #ForestLife #Ireland

A low-angle, eye-level woodland photograph taken from the forest floor. In the foreground, dry brown and copper autumn leaves carpet the ground. On the right, a small, jagged tree stump covered in bright green moss is in sharp focus, caught in a patch of warm, low sunlight. Behind it, a massive, thick tree base slopes upward, completely wrapped in a heavy blanket of velvety green moss. In the softer background, tall tree trunks rise toward a leafy canopy, where pale golden sunlight filters through a soft, hazy atmosphere, creating dappled patches of warm light across the bark and ground.

No.1 - Abstract photography

After wandering for quite some time, it seems I have found my place in the vast world of photography. This is where I feel at ease; this is where I want to linger.

An abstract photo of a blossom. The blossom is black against a beige background. It somewhat resembles an ink drawing.

A scenic landscape shot of a dense forested shoreline along a calm lake. The tree leaves are transitioning into autumn, with vibrant yellow and orange foliage standing out against deep green trees. The still water in the foreground perfectly mirrors the colorful trees and the forest greenery in a soft, rippling reflection.

Either a female or juvenile Eurasian Sparrowhawk (Accipiter nisus). I caught this Eurasian Sparrowhawk through my kitchen window visiting my garden to have a spot of lunch on a Pidgeon it had selected from the menu. By the time I saw it, it had pretty much devoured all of its prey, bones and all.

Flycatcher in the Green

Here’s a little Acadian flycatcher (Empidonax virescens) I spotted on a spring day.

Step into a world where even the smallest moments—like the glint in a bird's eye—tell their own story.

https://swede1952-photographs.pixels.com

#photo #photography #photographer #photographylovers #wildlife #nature #bird #birds #birding #birdwatching #birdphotography #flycatchers #AcadianFlycatcher

"A small Acadian flycatcher perches lightly on a slender branch, surrounded by soft green leaves that frame it like a quiet woodland curtain. The bird’s head is a gentle wash of warm brown, tapering into a clean white throat and chest that catch the light like a small lantern in the shade. Its wings and tail are a muted grayish‑brown, neatly folded, giving it a tidy, compact look as it rests.

The flycatcher’s posture is alert but calm — the kind of stillness that feels ready to burst into motion at any second. Its dark eyes are bright and watchful, fixed on something just beyond the frame, as if listening for the faintest flutter of an insect’s wings. The background melts into a soft blur of greens and shadows, making the bird stand out like a delicate note in a quiet forest.

The whole scene feels peaceful, intimate, and fleeting — a moment of woodland quiet captured before the little bird darts away." - Microsoft Copilot
